County of Santa Cruz

  • 753 Las Olas Drive, Aptos – Proposal to remodel the existing nonconforming single-family dwelling (including relocation of kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and bedrooms), construct a 598 square foot addition, integrate the attached habitable accessory structure into the single-family dwelling, extend the exterior decks, and recognize an existing 7-foot fence located in the front yard setback. Requires a Coastal Development Permit; Variances to reduce the front setback for the house from 20 feet to 11 feet 2 inches, the western side setback from 5 feet to 4 feet 2.25 inches, and the eastern side setback from 5 feet to 4 feet 9.5 inches, a Development Permit to recognize an existing 7 foot fence within in the front yard setback, and a determination that the project is exempt from further review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Property is located on the south side of Las Olas Drive (753 Las Olas Drive), approximately 0.86 miles southeast of the intersection of Center Avenue and Las Olas Drive in the Aptos area.

  • 733 Seacliff Drive, AptosContinued from the February 2, 2024 Zoning Administrator meeting. Proposal to revoke Hosted Rental Permit #231268, a permit to allow for the short term-rental (overnight stay of less than 30 days) of a two-bedroom dwelling unit where a long-term resident, acting as a host, occupies one of the bedrooms in the dwelling. Requires revocation of Permit 231268. Property located on the south side of Seacliff Drive, approximately 130 feet southeast of the intersection of Oakhill Rad and Seacliff Drive.
  • 149 Palisades Avenue, Santa CruzPublic hearing to consider an appeal of the administrative denial of vacation rental permit 231425, a proposal to renew Vacation Rental Permit # 181329 to operate a two-bedroom residential vacation rental. Requires a Vacation Rental permit and a determination that the project is exempt from further review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Property located on the west side of Palisades Avenue (149 Palisades Avenue) at approximately 100 feet from the intersection with East Cliff Drive.

  • Public rights-of-way in the Coastal Zonestreet sweeping project number: cp23-0144 select locations citywide in the Coastal Zone – Coastal Permit and Design Permit for proposed limitation of hours of public parking and placement of new signage for sweeping of City streets in the public right-of-way on land within the Shoreline Protection Overlay/Coastal Zone. Location: On public rights-of-way within the Coastal Zone. Environmental Review: Not a project pursuant to CEQA Section 15378; Statutory Exemption – CEQA Section 15282(j); Categorical exemptions – CEQA Section 15301(c), (g), 15307, 15308, and 15061(b). Applicant: City of Santa Cruz. Filed: 12/28/2023. This project requires a Coastal Permit which is appealable to the California Coastal Commission (CCC). An appeal may be filed to the CCC after all possible local appeals are exhausted through the City. For Coastal Permits processed concurrently with other planning entitlements, an appeal of the Coastal Permit only may be filed directly to the CCC at any time during the appeal period. Appeals shall be processed in accordance with Section 24.04.180 et seq. of the SCMC.

  • Municipal Code Amendment: Private Property Outdoor Seating Project Number FP24-0001 Review and Make a Recommendation on Amending Municipal Code Chapter 24.10 and Sections 24.12.190, 24.12.290, and 24.12.1108 and Adding New Sections 24.10.2342 and 24.12.191 to Streamline Permitting and Establish Standards for Private Property Outdoor Seating Associated with Eating and/or Drinking Establishments. Chapters 24.10 and 24.12 are part of the Local Coastal Program Implementation Plan (LCP IP) and will Require Approval by the California Coastal Commission Prior to Taking Effect Inside the Coastal Zone.
