Weekly Review August 15 – 21

County of Santa Cruz

The County Emergency Medical Care Commission is scheduled to meet Monday, August 17 at 8:30 am at the Central Fire Conference Room, 930 17th Avenue in Santa Cruz. The agenda and instructions for public participation are not available online.


The County Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday, August 18 at 9:00 am at the Board Chambers & Community Room, Governmental Center, 701 Ocean Street in Santa Cruz. Click HERE for the agenda and instructions for public participation. Agenda items include:

Consent Agenda

  • Adopt resolution declaring racism as a public health crisis, direct County departments to develop plans to incorporate educational efforts to address and dismantle racism, and expand understanding of racism and how racism affects individual and population health, and take other actions as indicated, as recommended by Supervisors Leopold and Coonerty.
  • Schedule public hearings to consider proposals to add the Permanent Room Housing (PRH) combining zone district to eight (8) county parcels, and take related actions, as recommended by the Planning Director.
  • Accept proposed Rule 20A projects; dissolve the East Cliff Drive Underground Utility District No.19; direct Public Works to prepare a resolution of intention and return to the Board by November 1, 2020 with the resolution of intention, as recommended by the Deputy CAO/Director of Public Works.

Regular Agenda

  • Public hearing to consider approval in concept of ordinance amending various sections of Chapter 13.10 of the Santa Cruz County Code (Local Coastal Program Implementing Ordinance) regarding Accessory Structures, Home Occupations, Temporary Uses and Structures, and Hosted Rentals; adopt resolution accepting CEQA Notice of Exemption, schedule the ordinance for second reading and final adoption on September 1, 2020, and take related actions, as outlined in the memorandum of the Planning Director.
  • Consider approval in concept of ordinance amending Santa Cruz County Code section 13.10.694 Vacation Rentals, and use charts within sections 13.10.312, 13.10.322, 13.10.352 and 13.10.372 to implement amendments to 13.10.694 (Local Coastal Program amendments require review and certification by the California Coastal Commission) and making findings of exemption from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), adopt resolutions, schedule the ordinance for second reading and final adoption on September 1, 2020, and take related actions, as outlined in the memorandum of the Planning Director.
  • Consider resolution to impose beach restrictions for the Labor Day weekend in accordance with the local health emergency, as outlined in the memorandum of the County Administrative Officer.

City of Santa Cruz

  • 100 Block of Olive Street- Public HearingParking Changes Appeal – Motion that the Transportation and Public Works Commission consider the appeal of the Public Works staff decision to install designated single space markings “parking T’s”, a designated shuttle drop off zone, and additional red curb markings on the 100 block of Olive Street between Mission Street and Toledo Street, and at the close of the hearing, deny the appeal.

City of Scotts Valley

The Scotts Valley City Council scheduled to meet Wednesday, April 19 at 6:00 pm is CANCELLED.
